The September Salad: The Ultimate Italian Salad

Today marks a very special day. Well, more like a special month, but either way, it’s special. 11 months ago, I started my “A year of salads” category, and have since posted 11 salad recipes – one for each month. There have been some recipes which you may have approvingly nodded at, as it didn’t seem too far-fetched to combine said ingredients. But I’m sure there have also been those that you raised your eyebrows at, thinking there was no way that would ever taste good. Am I right?

Well, this last salad is most likely one you’ll raise your eyebrows at, as it’s not at all intuitive. I mean, who puts radish and artichokes in the same salad as white beans?

The August Salad: Breakfast Melon Salad

Hello my friends, I’m back! I know it’s been very quiet the past 2 weeks, but I was at a kid’s camp as a supervisor, and a million other things were happening on the side. I loved it all, though – I feel like being cut off from the internet for 10 days has hit a “reset” button in every way, and I haven’t felt as refreshed and ready for life in at least a year! I am busting with ideas for the blog, I am even thinking about a new lay-out, and I am oh so ready to start posting again. Which is why I thought it fitting to start with this month’s salad…even though it’s a little different.

The July Salad: Coconut Sweet Potato Salad

This month’s salad may come as a bit of surprise. It would be logical to have a salad featuring seasonal berries, a salad that is light and according to the temperature. I wanted to do things a little differently for my “A Year of Salads” Category this month, though, and opted for a filling, satisfying salad that can easily be swapped out for a whole meal. No berries, no fruits, just simple, down-to-earth ingredients, that will fool you into thinking you’re not even eating a salad bowl, but a really huge lovely bowl of roasted goodness.

The June Salad: White Bean Vienna Sausage Toss

So, it’s that time of the month again: A new salad for my A Year Of Salads Category is coming up on the blog. I’m amazed by the fact that I haven’t run out of ideas yet, to be honest, but I am determined to fill the category with a year of salad recipes…meaning I gotta keep going till September!

The May Salad: Orange-y Cherry Tomato Side Salad

It’s May, so that means it’s time for another salad to add to my A Year of Salads category! This one is a side salad, and, while sounding simple, is fantastically flavorful, resfreshing, and packed with vitamins and sweetness! As the weather is getting increasingly better, and warmer, I find it’s better to eat less filling, but more hydrating! It’s better to eat more and get your liquids than eat less and forget to hydrate, especially when it’s hot out!

The April Salad: Walnut-Feta-Pear-Toss

My day has been fine. I got almost everything done on my to-do list, and the sun is shining its a** off today, as if to prove that it has understood our pleas for springtime temperatures. I even just had a friend over for 3 hours and we caught up over a cup of coffee and homemade bounty bars. But somehow, I can’t find my joy today. Do you know what I mean? The March Salad With Marinated Tofu Cubes And Crunchy Millet Croutons

State of things: I feel brain-dead. State of mind: I can no longer read, making writing this post extremely challenging. My eyes just don’t seem to be connecting the letters to their meaning in my brain. State of heart: I am anxious, nervous, giddy, jumpy, but, most of all, exhausted.

What better time to finally prepare myself the March Salad that I’ve been planning to make all week?

Finally, The February Salad: 4-Green-Salad With Crazy Pink Dressing

I am so excited. Seriously. Somehow I have transitioned from being in a horrible, aggressive mood this afternoon, to being utterly exhilarated to be sharing this recipe with you. Sounds a bit crazy, right? Well, that must be due to the crazy pink dressing of this month’s salad:

The January Salad: Green Parsley Olive Zucchini Salad

Following in the footsteps of my October, November, and December salad, I made my January salad on Monday. It’s a travel-safe salad perfect for long workdays – or, as in my case, a day of university courses and study groups. It’s made up of almost only “green” ingredients, excepting the dressing and the millet, of course.

The December Salad: “Freaky” Ginger Fruit Salad With Salty Pistachio Crumbs

After my two hits “The October Salad” and “The November Salad”, I am not letting you down in December, and am, finally, on its very last day, posting my recipe for the December salad. However, this one is a little different. I was in a bit of a bind this month, as I don’t really enjoy salad as a main meal as much when it’s cold out. I much prefer soups, stews, or warm things in general when I am chilled to the bone – who wouldn’t?
