So the word “detox” is a total fad right now. But it does emit a lot of positivity, which is why I totally understand why products are so quickly described to be “detoxing” in nature, and which is also why I described my food diary as a “detox” day. I didn’t do any sports this week (minus yoga), which is something I generally don’t do too well with. And I was stressed out of my mind…the combination out of the two resulted in me feeling very tired, wiped out, and not at all like myself all week. I figured it was time to hit the reset button before the weekend, and I must say that after I “detoxed” last Friday, I felt much, much better.
Following in the footsteps of my October, November, and December salad, I made my January salad on Monday. It’s a travel-safe salad perfect for long workdays – or, as in my case, a day of university courses and study groups. It’s made up of almost only “green” ingredients, excepting the dressing and the millet, of course.
After my two hits “The October Salad” and “The November Salad”, I am not letting you down in December, and am, finally, on its very last day, posting my recipe for the December salad. However, this one is a little different. I was in a bit of a bind this month, as I don’t really enjoy salad as a main meal as much when it’s cold out. I much prefer soups, stews, or warm things in general when I am chilled to the bone – who wouldn’t?
I have been sitting around the apartment waiting for my boyfriend to bring home some groceries for about 3 hours, but he still hasn’t shown. I’m guessing his training is running a little long, so I finally gave in to the roaring starving monster that has been screaming in my belly.
Last week, I made some pancakes for lunch. Not the small, round, puffy American kind: the German, flat, crépe-like kind. They weren’t 100% vegan, as I used a real egg, but could easily have been made vegan by using a flax egg instead. I won’t post a recipe for those pancakes today, any crépe recipe would suffice. Besides, today isn’t about the pancakes, it’s about what I did with the left-overs! Continue reading Flavorful Multicolor Veggie Pancake Striped Soup
We all have those days where we just feel extremely bloated and yucky, am I right? I had one of those on Friday, and didn’t feel like having anything for breakfast. Which may not sound so bad, but if I don’t have breakfast, I start feeling very sick stomach-wise and weak quite quickly, which is why I ALWAYS have breakfast, even if it’s just an apple or, as was the case on Friday, a smoothie.
